May 2017 in Greendale

In this monthly post I try to keep you up-to-date on upcoming events in Greendale for next month. Here's a look at May 2017.

The Kidney Mile and Parkway 5K

These events encourage families to walk or run for a healthier future and raise awareness for kidney health, dialysis, living donation, and transplant. The Kidney Mile starts at 10:00 a.m. and the Parkway 5K starts at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 6. Registration for the Kidney Mile is $20 through April 30, then $25. Registration for the Parkway 5K is $35 through April 30, then $40.

The events begin at Whitnall Park, South 92nd Street and West College Ave. For more information see the Active.com website and the Kidney Foundation website.

Spring Gallery Night

Historic Downtown Greendale will turn into an outdoor art gallery for one spring night on Friday, May 12 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. The shops will be filled with unique products and talented artists, while more local artists, delicious food trucks, and musicians will be taking over the beautifully lit up Broad Street. There is free admission. For more information see the official Facebook page.

Spring into Greendale

Our annual spring-time event in Historic Downtown Greendale will feature great music, spring crafts, sidewalk sales, and more! Experience a fun-filled day the whole family will enjoy. You can spend the day exploring, shopping, dining, and participating in all the planned activities. This takes place on Broad Street on Saturday, May 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Village Board Meetings

This month there are two village board meetings scheduled, the first and third Tuesday, which are May 2 and May 16. These are at 7:00 p.m. You'll find the board gathering in the Village Hall Boardroom at 6500 Northway.

What Else To Do?

There are a variety of village shops you can visit. How about this month you check out Belle et Vieille at 5640 Parking Street. They sell original handmade artisan gifts as well as uniquely restored decor and furniture pieces. They also offer chalk painting furniture classes. Closed Sundays. You can find more information on their website and Facebook page.

Enjoy!
